Saltburn star heading to Peaky Blinders universe
Emmett Scanlan, best known for his role as Brendan Mackey in the BBC drama, will join the cast of the Birmingham-based gangster epic in its upcoming sixth and final series.
Scanlan will play Billy Grade, a charismatic and dangerous gangster who becomes a major thorn in the side of the Shelby family.
The actor said he was "thrilled" to be joining the Peaky Blinders cast, and that he was looking forward to working with series creator Steven Knight and the rest of the team.
"Peaky Blinders is one of the most iconic and successful dramas on television," said Scanlan. "I'm incredibly proud to be a part of it, and I can't wait to get started."
Knight said he was "delighted" to have Scanlan on board, and that he was confident that he would bring a "unique energy" to the role of Billy Grade.
"Emmett is a fantastic actor, and I'm sure he's going to be a great addition to the Peaky Blinders family," said Knight.
Peaky Blinders is set in Birmingham in the aftermath of World War I, and follows the Shelby family as they rise to power as one of the most feared gangs in the city.
The show has been a critical and commercial success, and has won numerous awards, including a BAFTA for Best Drama Series in 2019.
The sixth and final series of Peaky Blinders is expected to air in 2022.
